Objective: students define drama and practice skills (concentration, imagination, transformation, imitation – C.I.T.I.) needed for a drama.

Students have fun with concentration and imagination exercises:  both important for integrated drama work.  A great beginning of the year lesson for 2nd grade students with prior drama experience.*    In this lesson, you will find The Freeze (which sets a classroom management signal), Word Rhythm Dance, and Peanut Butter & Jelly activities recommended as part of the instruction – download them to complete the materials.  Students gain experience in naming the 4 fine arts and demonstrating how C.I.T.I. (concentration, imagination, transformation, imitation) are used in drama (part of the second grade objectives).  This lesson is part of our recommended sequence in the Second Grade Curriculum.

*For classes without experience, we suggest you start with the Introductory Lessons.
