Stick, Chair, Person Lesson: Three Drama Skill Words 

Objective: students demonstrate the tools (body, mind, voice) and skills of imagination, imitation, and transformation needed to create a drama.

An energetic and delightful starter lesson for the beginning of a school year and a great classroom community activity.  Students pass around real objects and transform them in their imaginations as the lesson becomes progressively more complex and begins to simulate the dramatic process between actor and director (part of the third grade objectives).  Students practice leadership skills, communication skills, and creativity.    This lesson can be used to integrate topics in Language Arts (e.g. action verbs) or Science (e.g. energy, force, motion) - read more details in the lesson.  This lesson is part of our recommended sequence in the Third Grade Curriculum.
