Communities Lesson
Objective: students demonstrate collaboration and cooperation.
The story for this lesson is “The Bad Joke That Ended Well.” This short story brings much merriment and laughter to the telling and playing but also provides an opportunity for students to experience community in a deeper sense. Students begin by discussing what qualities make up good and bad communities in which to live. This lesson integrates well with further stories on how cities and communities work. The third grade objectives addressed in this lesson are using drama skills and audience behaviors. This lesson is part of our recommended sequence in the Third Grade Curriculum.
